How encouraging it is see young people engaging in the challenges brought about by climate change. Governments have the power to make a difference and they are right in saying they are not doing enough. But do you know who has the REAL power to make a change? – YOU! Human activity produces the CO2 which is causing the atmosphere to warm up; what is this activity?
1) TRANSPORT: Motor vehicles, planes and diesel trains.
2) POWER STATIONS: coal, gas, and bio-mass.
3) FACTORIES.
If we altered our lifestyles we could solve the problem ourselves without any governments. We all need to lead a simpler and less materialistic lifestyle; Use the car less, use less electricity and spend less. If we all spent 10% less each week, it would have a significant impact on CO2 emissions and may even stop global warming in its tracks! The less we spend means we need less factories, less lorries to transport the goods and so on. We don’t have to go back to the horse and cart but as the old saying goes – there’s no such thing as a free lunch! To leave the planet in a good state for our offspring and that of nature, we must make sacrifices.
