There has been no response to the enquiries into the procedures involving the tree fellings earlier in the year. The letter has been re-sent by recorded delivery.

TREE FELLINGS:

UPDATE

I have made enquiries to the authority responsible for the tree fellings (oak and pine) earlier in the year regarding the procedures in these cases: Whether residents were notified and whether the claimed damage to the property concerned had been verified.

UPDATE:

The C.A.B. (Citizens advice bureau) have been in touch with the Pension Service and the matter should be resolved within a week.

NO INCOME

September 19, 2012

Because of repeated blunders by the D.W.P. (The department for work and
pensions) I am now left with no income. Before reaching the qualifying age for
pension credits I was sent a letter by the D.W.P. asking me to choose between
E.S.A. (Employment and support allowance) which I was receiving and pension
credits which I would soon be entitled to. I chose pension credits. I applied
by phone a month before the qualifying date and was told by the advisor that it would be held on file until
that time. I later received a letter telling me to close my claim for E.S.A. as
pension credits couldn’t be processed with it open. This I did by phone. From
that point I had no income. Over a month later I phoned pension credits as it
hadn’t been paid in and they told me that I would have to re-apply as my E.S.A.
claim was still live. It took THREE phone calls to the D.W.P. to get this claim
closed down. I am still waiting for pension credits to be processed.

TREES FELLED

On the 26th June 2012 a tree was felled on open land in a picturesque market town in Cumbria UK. A further tree nearby had its branches removed and later felled. The trees were part of many in the area and one of them was at least (estimated) fifty feet tall and had been used by nesting rooks a few weeks earlier. I contacted the Council regarding this and later received a voice mail explaining that the trees were damaging an adjacent property. I later received a letter from the Council stating that they hadn’t given any instructions regarding the trees and are awaiting a response from the Housing association who own the land. The reasons for the fellings were unclear they stated and it was being investigated.

DETRITUS

This is an extract from South Lakeland News issue 20 which seeks public views on dog control orders which are being considered.

As part of the consultation, we are also asking seeking public opinion on a public byelaw to give police the relevant power to take action in response to public urination and defecation in the street.”

In the current economic climate hard and unpleasant choices have to be made and people are struggling to get by. One unpleasantness I’ve never been faced with is being confronted by someone defecating in the street! The last time I witnessed a person urinating in a public place was in the last century when I lived in a city. What people may be concerned about apart from their health, the welfare of their kids, being mugged or their finances is to be able to take a walk without worrying about where their feet are treading or if it’s safe for youngsters to play in the park without contracting a disease. People defecating in the street is not high on peoples minds when they leave the house – get real!

MILK CRISIS

I’m not an economist but it appears that the way the milk industry is run is a shambles. Failing to pay producers enough to meet cost plus a reasonable profit is not in the consumers’ interest. What is needed is a price RISE across the industry – that means ME and YOU! 49P a pint is very low for a nutritious commodity like milk. This crisis is nothing new – for decades our farmers have been squeezed by the industry in this highly competitive market. The result I believe has been deterioration in the quality of milk. Milk today doesn’t seem to be the same as yesteryear – Nothing like the creamy milk I used to buy from EXPRESS DAIRIES in MANCHESTER in the 70s. There also appears to have been a lot of skinny cows in the fields in CUMBRIA after shedding this year. If this perception is real what is the cause? 60p should be the minimum price for a pint of milk. What do you pay for a fizzy drink full of sugar?

PLATYSTROPHIA BOUNDARYX

July 15, 2012

A few years ago I discovered a fossil at the Boundary of the town. Not being a geologist I submitted images of it to this website under “IDENTIFICATION” …  http://www.discussfossils.com/forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=7&SID=dz1af4ee5ccc7d1c8b1c6258cz2f41z7&title=your-recent-finds … So far no definite conclusion has been established. If you are knowledgeable in this field feel free to pitch in with your suggestions.

UPDATE

July 6, 2012

Interviewed by the cockatiel he was asked how he felt about the momentous discovery. He said “I was thrilled when I saw the data pointing to the illusive antigraviton – but it may have been something else!”
